A flat iron can help add tons of shine and polish to fine hair, too. But it’s important to remember a few key rules when flat ironing fine hair. First, instead of taking large horizontal sections, take smaller diagonal-back sections. This prevents the hair underneath from getting pinched in the flat iron and allows the hair to fall at its natural fall position. Next, take your comb in the opposite hand with the teeth facing up and take the section in your comb. As your flat iron comes in, start moving the iron before the plates are even closed all the way. Allow the comb to lead your hand and move slowly to create a nice bevel. For fine hair, make sure the hand holding the flat iron is far away from the plates for less compression. The thicker or coarser the hair, the closer you should hold your hand to the plates. Make sure you move slowly down the section; the rate of speed will determine the success of your flat ironing skills.

Hair Emergency
Emergency: Too Much Shine/Smoothing Serum
Quick fix: This is a common mistake, as most people forget how concentrated hair serums are — a little really goes a long way. If you get heavy-handed, reach for a volumizing spray. The alcohol in it will help absorb some of the serum and put a little traction in your hair. Do not apply dry shampoo; this will just make hair feel heavier and even a little gross.

Did you know that unexpected hair loss and balding can be triggered early due to incidents with unsympathetically matted and tangled hair? Yup! Hair becomes matted when it is not getting combed as needed to permit natural shedding. Loose hair can knot several times around strands, creating tangles that cause the hair to matte.

The Hormone Influence
“What is known is that hormones have a major effect on hair texture. “Hormones influence the hair in several different ways since they are regulators of the body’s metabolism,” Christo says. “Hormones tell our body how to perform, therefore increasing or decreasing specific hormones can directly affect the way our body functions. “He cites three major hormones that affect the hair: Thyroxine and triiodothyronine are produced by the thyroid gland and influence the way the body uses the food we eat. An under-active thyroid can cause brittle hair and hair loss. Androgen is produced in the adrenal glands and is responsible for hair growth.

Keratin Treatments
Hello Everyone,
I am excited to now offer this new service. I will really help those with curly, unruly hair. YEAH! What is it? What does it do? These are the questions I am now getting. I hope this helps explains it more clearly.
Q: What is Keratin Complex Natural Keratin Smoothing Treatment ?
A: It is a specially formulated revitalizing and rejuvenating treatment for the hair that eliminates up to 95% of frizz and curl. The advanced patent-pending formulation restores and restructureshair by infusing a special blend of natural keratin deep into the cuticle. The keratin is bonded into the cuticle by the heat of the flat iron to relax the hair’s sub-cuticle layer.
Q: How much time should be allowed ?
A: Time should be determined on an individual basis. Each client will by evaluated, asking about their hair length, typeand texture. Please allow a 2 to 3 hours for this treatment.
Q: What results can be expected after the treatment?
A: The hair will be more manageable and take much less time to style. It will be noticeably softer and straighter, with added life and shine as well as a lengthened look.
Q: Can hair be colored before the treatment?
A: Yes! A great time to have the treatment done would be directly after permanent color, semipermanent or highlights. The treatment will extend the life and seal the color in, leaving it vibrant, however, for demi-gloss or toners have color done 3-5 days after treatment for optimal results.
Q: Can the treatment be done on chemically treated hair, previously relaxed or straightened hair?
A: YES, It is recommended to wait two weeks between any chemical services .
Q: How many days after the treatment before the hair can get wet or be washed?
A: You must wait 3 days (72 hours) before washing your hair or swimming.
Q: Can the hair be pulled back or clipped up during the 72-hour waiting period?
A: No. The hair should not have any impressions made by using bands or clips.
Q: What should be done if the hair gets wet during the 72-hour waiting period?
A: Blow the hair dry and flat iron with medium to low heat immediately.
Q: What kind of shampoo and conditioner should be used?
A: Keratin Care Shampoo & Conditioner (Sodium-Chloride Free) or Keratin Color Care Shampoo & Conditioner (Sodium-Chloride and
Sulfate Free).
Q: How often can the treatment be done?
A: TheA: The treatment can be done as often as every 4-6 weeks.
Q: Is the re-application of the treatment done on the entire head or just on the new growth?
A: The re-application should be done on the entire head as the build-up of keratin can only improve, not harm, the hair.
Q: How long will the treatment last?
A: The treatment lasts 3-5 months, depending on lifestyle and maintenance, provided the client follows all after care instructions.
Q: Should the hair be cut before or after the treatment?
A: I recommend that the hair be cut after the treatment, as the hair will have a smoother texture and will lie differently.
Q: Can the treatment be done on pregnant or nursing women?
A: No. It is not recommended!
Please feel free to email me any additional questions.
